Hotels in Britain come in all shapes and sizes, from the charming country house hotel with ample grounds and picturesque gardens to impressive modern structures in city centres.

As the name suggests, Country House Hotels are found in beautiful rural locations. They are often luxuriously appointed, set in their own grounds, and the rooms frequently have special features such as four-poster beds. Some may have leisure facilities like swimming pools or health spas and may be able to arrange country sport activities such as clay pigeon shooting and fishing.

Prices can vary widely from £70.00 per night outside London to over £200.00 in London, based on two people sharing a room with breakfast. Many large hotels have special offers at weekends and in the low season.

Ropewalk Contemporary Art & Craft opened in 2000 in the former Hall's Barton Ropery Ropewalk which closed in 1989.

The Grade 2 listed building. almost a quarter of a mile long and believed to have the longest single span pantile roof in the country, is now home to Ropewalk Contemporary Art & Craft which has four galleries as well as a garden gallery and Coffee Shop.

Both Gallery One and Artspace host regularly changing programmes of art exhibitions curated in-house as well as National Touring Exhibitions from the Hayward Gallery.

The Box Gallery, situated within the Craft Gallery, has a programme of themed exhibitions featuring the best in craft with nationally and internationally known makers whilst the Craft Gallery houses a continually changing exhibition of quality craftwork from over 80 regionally and nationally acclaimed makers providing small gifts and collectors items, including glassware, ceramics, textiles, sculpture, prints, an extensive collection of contemporary jewellery and cards.

There is also a Heritage Display which pays tribute, not only to the former Ropery but also the other industries of the Waterside area of the town.
