Hotel & Guest Accommodation

Greenway Hotel
Hotels

Hotels in Britain come in all shapes and sizes, from the charming country house hotel with ample grounds and picturesque gardens to impressive modern structures in city centres.

They offer a range of facilities and services, depending on location and price. Town House hotels are located in city centres, with a small number of luxury rooms, beautiful furnishings, attentive staff and superb cuisine (or, if without a restaurant, offering 24 hour room service). Metro Hotels are also found in the centre of town and provide full hotel services with the exception of dinner.

As the name suggests, Country House Hotels are found in beautiful rural locations. They are often luxuriously appointed, set in their own grounds, and the rooms frequently have special features such as four-poster beds. Some may have leisure facilities like swimming pools or health spas and may be able to arrange country sport activities such as clay pigeon shooting and fishing.

Prices can vary widely from £70.00 per night outside London to over £200.00 in London, based on two people sharing a room with breakfast. Many large hotels have special offers at weekends and in the low season.

Wherever you wish to visit, and whatever your preferences, you’ll be sure to find a great hotel to suit all your needs.

Yorkshire's last working windmill, a four-sailed tower mill built in 1821 by Norman and Smithson of Hull. The adjacent warehouses form the Museum of East Riding Rural Life, with displays illustrating the agricultural and rural history of the area, and including a range of simple child-friendly interactive exhibits. Children's trails and information sheets are available free from the mill reception, and there are hand-held information sheets in both galleries and in the mill tower. The mill has an Education Room, which is also available for hire for meetings (£10 for ERYC, £12 for other users.) School visits are welcomed, and a Teachers' Pack and other resources are available.

The mill is run, weather permitting, by the miller and mill volunteers between Wednesdays and Sundays, and produces various grades of wholemeal flour from East Riding-grown `Hereward` variety grain, which is available for purchase in the mill shop, along with a wide range of souvenir and other items, and books.

The mill is set in over an acre of land, commanding magnificent views over the Wolds. The courtyard contains various exhibits including a blacksmith's forge, and the cafe.At the side of the mill is a sheltered garden picnic area, Wildlife Garden and pond. The adjacent field is being developed as a natural history area and open play space for children.'Explorasacks' - small backpacks containing materials and equipment to use for exploring the garden and field - are available from the reception in exchange for a £5 returnable deposit.

Parking is available in the mill car park, about 80m below the mill, or in the dead-end Mill Road opposite the mill entrance (vehicles are excluded from the courtyard for health and safety reasons). Coaches can drop off groups on the road at the mill entrance, and then park in Mill Road opposite.
